The mountainous area is located in the Cordillera Dariense mountain range. The nature reserve is known for its diverse, extremely rich flora and fauna, surrounded by a tropical mist forest with abundant rainfall. It is home to about 250 species of birds. Among them are the distinctive hummingbirds, with their stunningly beautiful blue-green plumage. It is from these small birds that the coffee Colibrí Azul – "blue hummingbird" – takes its name. Nicaragua Colibrí Azul coffee delights with its flavour from the first sip. It stands out for its delicate acidity and smooth body. It has pleasant notes of hazelnut, grapefruit and black tea.
